About the work

This book in the form of a lightbox consists of five chapters. The text and illustrations of each are on transparent plastic cards that are viewed using the illuminated surface of the lightbox.

Zhiguli Gradient: For several months the artist photographed sunsets on the Volga and created a collection of sky gradients. You can look at the cards with the images separately or place them on top of each other to create your own Zhiguli gradient.

Ineradicable Kingdoms: A collection of objects that hold various memories for the artist. For Albanac Albokrinova held a “parting” ritual with these things, organizing them into “kingdoms” and providing a description and provenance for each.

Reading Endlessly: A set of paired cards that can be used to create words which change meaning when the order of syllables is changed (la/ska — ska/la).

New Russian Heraldry: The coats of arms of various Russian cities are cut into pieces and painted in psychedelic colors. You can use them to make your own version of a heraldic symbol.

Prozac: Pages from the Samara newspaper Kul’tura and the regional edition of Kommersant are transformed into quasi‑literary texts using blackouts.

The book was created as part of the Garage Library project Single Copy.
