Garage Publishing: Exhibition catalogues, research publications, books on contemporary Culture and Art
Garage Museum of Contemporary Art publishes books on contemporary art and culture, inclusion, museum studies, biographies of artists and museum directors, exhibition catalogues, research publications on subjects such as postcolonial studies, and books in English.
The publishing program includes a number of series that reflect the Museum’s activities:
- the GARAGE.txt series and grant program funds research and offers publishing opportunities to Russian and international researchers who write in the Russian language;
- Soviet Modernism explores the architecture from the period 1950–1991 in the major cities of Russia and the CIS;
- Garage Dance explores the history of modern and contemporary dance;
- Garage Screen focuses on the types and forms of film language;
- Contemporary Critical Thought features books that changed the scientific, cultural, and socio-political landscape in the 20th century;
- the Directors’ Series comprises biographies and autobiographies of museum directors.
- the international program was launched to distribute abroad English-language books on the Museum’s own activities and research on aspects of Russian contemporary art that are little-known outside of Russia.
