DESCRIPTION

From August 30 2024, Garage is launching a new season of mediations.

During the new season visitors will experience archive Russian art in the main Museum building with the project Open Storage. A Prologue and in Garage Archive Collection. They can also discuss the work of contemporary Russian artists at Garage Studios at VDNKh and the Narkomfin Building.

Entry to mediations is free with advance registration, with the exception of the mediation of the project Open Storage. A Prologue. To join this mediation you need to purchase an exhibition ticket and then register.

The team of mediators was selected in April 2024 as the result of an open call, and each person has received training. Garage has been developing its mediation program for a number of years. In 2024, the Museum launched its own methodology manual for developing and running mediation programs.

Participants will be able to enter the archive, which is usually closed to the public, explore different collections and objects, and discuss them with the group.

Mediations of the Project Open Storage. A Prologue

The project Open Storage. A Prologue includes works from the collection of Russian contemporary art that Garage began building in 2024 and also a large amount of archive material. From day one the project will be the subject of mediations.

The format of the mediations is constructed around active communication between the group and the mediator. Participants look at and discuss several works exhibited as part of the project.

Mediations on Igor Samolet's project in the Narkomfin Building

In Igor Samolet’s project Architecture of Relationships, monumental modernist shapes and everyday things and narratives merge into a single whole—large objects displayed in the Communal Block of the Narkomfin Building.
