DESCRIPTION

Garage launches a cycle of mediation sessions in Garage Archive Collection, a unique collection of more than 130 archives related to Russian contemporary art which is constantly expanding thanks to the addition of documents from galleries, artists, and twentieth- and twenty-first-century collectors.

Participants will be able to enter the archive, which is usually closed to the public, explore different collections and objects, and discuss them with the group. Mediation sessions are built on interaction and require active participation in the discussion.

Participation is free with advance registration.

The maximum number of participants in each session is eight.

Mediation Session with the Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe archive

Participants will look at objects that belonged to Russian artist Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe, discuss his art, his belongings, and the costumes he created.

About the mediators

Taisia Delskaya was born in 2003 in Moscow. She works in journalism and art management and is studying sociology at the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences. Her professional interests include feminist studies, the sociology of art, cultural project management, and philology.

Sofia Mukhina was born in 2003 in Sergiev Posad. She teaches foreign languages and works on the production of youth projects at AIESEC. Her professional interests include critical pedagogy, linguistics, feminist studies, and cinema.

Mediation Session with the Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe archive

About the mediators

Mediation of the archive of Lianozovo School artists and poets

Participants will learn about the Lianozovo School, an informal association of artists and poets that formed in the late 1950s and existed until the mid-1970s. The session will cover poetry by Genrikh Sapgir and Igor Kholin, paintings by Oskar Rabin and Lydia Masterkova, and archival documents, photographs and books by other artists. 

About the Mediators

Valeria Vyazovskaya (b. 1996, Krasnodar) is an independent researcher, writer, and poet. She holds a Master’s degree in Philosophical Anthropology from the Higher School of Economics (2022). Her interests include film theory, feminist epistemologies, and minority writing.

Tina Shirokostup (b. 1962, Ryazan) is an aviation engineer by education and worked in naval aviation for over 20 years. Since 2017, she has been a mediator, working at Garage, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and GES-2 House of Culture. Her interests include art, music, long walks and bike rides, the sea, and dogs.
