Quiet, Please: Contemporary Music Concerts at Garage Library

DESCRIPTION

Garage Library is launching an experiment in rethinking the “quiet” library space.

Quiet, Please is a program of chamber music concerts that will take place at the library throughout the year. Revisiting the idea of the reading room as a quiet space where one should keep silent or at least whisper, the program will feature quiet pieces that require attentive listening and an ability to focus on every sound and pause in the performance.

The project explores various possible interactions between sound and space and includes concerts by Russian and international musicians presenting contemporary classical and electronic pieces.

Concerts will take place during the library’s opening hours and create a sound environment that will not disturb the readers. The project will also help draw public attention to the publications on sound art and contemporary music in the collection of Garage Library.
