This program brings the audience the most discussed films of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. Along with several winners, it features some of the critics’ favourites: the pictures that reflect the key current festival trends.
As well as the social realist Atlantics by Mati Diop—the niece of the prominent Senegalese cinema pioneer Djibril Diop Mambéty—and the program includes mainstream art films Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino. Strange experimental films in the selection include Jessica Hausner’s thriller Little Joe about a genetically modified plant, the dark cinephile’s burlesque Deerskin by Quentin Dupieux about a cursed fringed jacket, and Bertrand Bonello’s postcolonial horror Zombi Child.
