Garage continues to introduce its audiences to contemporary Russian art in the format of meetings with artists, which has proved popular among the visitors. As previously, the discussions will be moderated by art historian and critic Andrey Kovalev.
Aimed at the most substantive analysis of the selected artworks, the format of the Just Art cycle includes a slideshow of around twenty to thirty reproductions published on the Museum website prior to each meeting. Any visitor is welcome to engage in conversation, creating a unique situation of direct communication between the artist and the public, which makes these sessions different from more traditional artist talks. Andrey Kovalev’s guests represent various generations and mediums, from Moscow conceptualism and actionism to performance art and the new media. However, linking all of them are active involvement in creative processes, participation in domestic and foreign exhibitions and international biennials, and critical recognition.
