Fahrelnissa Zeid: Painter of Inner Worlds
This book is dedicated to the life and work of a Turkish artist Fahrelnissa Zeid. Written by Adila Laïdi‑Hanieh, Fahrelnissa's former student, and based on the access to the artist's private papers and personal archive, it provides a revesionist and definitive account of both Fahrelnissa's extraordinary life and the constant innovation and reinvention that characterized her career. It foregrounds the importance of her knowledge of European culture and her shifting mental state on her artistic vision, and challenges orientalist interpretations of her art.
