Slavs and Tatars: Mouth to Mouth

Slavs and Tatars is an art collective and “a faction of polemics and intimacies devoted to an area east of the former Berlin Wall and west of the Great Wall of China known as Eurasia”. Founded in 2006, the group’s work is centered on three activities: exhibitions, books and lecture performances. The artists’ work (from sculptures to lecture performances, installations to publications) similarly overturn the traditional hierarchies of understanding, seeing, and listening. Slavs and Tatars aim to free knowledge from the Enlightenment confines of the mind. Accompanies the mid-career touring exhibition, Slavs and Tatars: Mouth to Mouth at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw (November 2016 — February 2017); Pejman Foundation (May — July 2017); Salt Galata, Istanbul (June — August 2017); CAC Vilnius (September — October 2017); Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade (November 2017 — January 2018).
