Yulia Liderman’s Seminar Series. Key Texts in Art History

DESCRIPTION

Garage resumes the seminar series by Yulia Liderman based around selected key texts in the history of contemporary art.

This series of seminars is inspired by the anthology Fifty Key Texts in Art History published by Routledge in 2012—a collection of critical commentaries on seminal writings on the history and philosophy of art from the classical period to the late twentieth century.

The new season focuses on selected theoretical texts of the first half of the twentieth century, as well as the philosophy of the early modernist and modernity periods, along with some earlier writings. Participants will be invited to read original articles written by critics and thinkers and commentaries on them from the anthology in reverse chronological order—that is, from later to early texts.

The seminars require independent reading of texts indicated in the bibliographical list in preparation for every meeting.
