shnit. Worldwide Competition III: Premiere

DESCRIPTION

An unexpected friendship and overcoming a crisis in a marriage, domestic violence and the struggle with stigmatization, non-player characters in computer games and a critique of capitalism.

Worldwide Competition III gives an idea of the themes of concern to makers of contemporary short films.

THE PROGRAM

Hardly Working

Hardly Working is about those characters in computer games who we usually don’t notice. They are NPC, or non-player characters, static figures who inhabit the digital world in order to give it more volume. Laundresses, grooms, street cleaners, and carpenters who are depicted in unbelievable detail. Their Sisyphean labor is a clear illustration of the capitalist world order. The film was an award nominee and winner at numerous festivals, including the Locarno Film Festival (2022).
