Majmouan

This film is based on the eponymous short story by Gregory Burnham and Edouard Levé’s novel Autoportrait. Majmouan is a reflection on the uncertainties in life. It is made up of 8 mm home movies in which Iranians discuss the impossibility of accounting for life. Does anyone count their gray hairs? Or how many apartments they have rented? Or how many they have owned? How many kisses you’ve had? No one can give exact figures for us or our lives. The film was an award nominee and winner at numerous festivals, including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

Director Mohammadreza Farzad

Bestia

Her prototype is Ingrid Olderöck, «the woman of the dogs, ” who was accused of torture and human rights violations against enemies of the regime. Covarrubias’ animated film does not show Olderöck’s real biography, instead telling the story of the dark side of Chilean history through her relationship with her dog.

Director Hugo Covarrubias
