Session 6. “Is there a place for the author in contemporary creations”

DESCRIPTION

Twentieth-century French philosopher Roland Barthes declared the death of the author. How shall we understand this assumption? From the thinker’s viewpoint, having completed the work, the author stops affecting it, as it begins to live on its own.

Can we agree with the idea that authorship no longer plays a role in our perception of artworks, especially in the age of social media and the Internet? Participants will reflect on this question during the session.

Lev Oborin is a poet, lit critic, translator, editor of the project Polka.
