Screening: Sarah Plays a Werewolf

DESCRIPTION

The feature-length debut of director Katharina Wyss is a psychological drama and coming of age story, in which terrible secrets are more likely to be guessed at than revealed.

Sarah is an extremely emotional and troubled teenager. Her rehearsals with the school drama group only serve to strengthen her extreme instability. In her home life, her cold, intellectual father, overly-modest mother, slightly-too-young sister, and older brother, who has turned his back on the family, combine to lead to an inevitable crisis.

This is the feature-length film debut by Katharina Wyss, a graduate of the DFFB Film School in Berlin. The world premiere of the film took place at the Venice International Film Festival, as part of Critics' Week.

Awarded the main prize for Best Debut Film at the 16th Khanty-Mansiysk International Film Festival “Spirit of Fire,” 2018

Prize for best lead role at the Saarbrücken Film Festival, 2018

The film will be introduced by Boris Nelepo, film critic and festival selector for Locarno Film Festival, specializing in films from CIS countries.
