Screening: Argerich. Bloody Daughter

DESCRIPTION

A portrait of living legend Martha Argerich, one of the finest pianists the world has ever known, as painted by her daughterStéphanie.

How can motherhood, career, a relationship, and self-fulfilment blend together in this day and age? Director Stéphanie Argerich documents the lives of her parents, the world-famous musicians Martha Argerich and Stephen Kovacevich. The film is an intimate family portrait, recounted by a modest and honest “third-party,” daughter Stéphanie, who is the only one of Martha’s three children to bear her surname. The film not only explains what it means to be the daughter of a “goddess,” a living legend of classical music, but also opens a unique and direct communication channel that no professional journalist or even personal assistant could ever hope to have. A journey into the Martha Argerich matriarchy, the goal of which isn’t to present but rather to observe and encourage the audience to watch.

Awarded the Fipad'Orfor best picture in the Music and Live Events category at the Biarritz International Festival, 2013.

Prize winner Italia Music and Arts Documentary, Turin, 2013.

The film will be introduced by the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of Switzerland, Maud Mabillard.
