In February 2019, Garage Studios and Artist Residencies—the first such initiative by a museum in Russia—opened on the territory of VDNKh. Located in a post-constructivist pavilion built in 1939, Garage Studios and Artist Residencies comprises eighteen separate work spaces, a shared workshop, and a painting studio.
On Open Day, the project’s crew welcomes everyone to visit the artists. Garage guides will deliver a tour of the building focusing on its history, and will explain the main programming principles as well as goals for the inaugural year. Guests will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the artists and have a chat with them over a cup of tea.
