Together with artist Natalia Uspenskaya and students from the Book Art studio participants will explore the design features of Viktor Pivovarov’s books and then create their own layouts.
Working on book composition requires a particular artistic perspective: the artist does not think in terms of individual images but perceives the book as a whole, as a sequence of spreads. The starting point of each book is a blank page, where text and illustration meet.
Alongside artist Natalia Uspenskaya and Ekaterina Isakova and Lena Matulis, who are students of the Book Art studio at Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute, the group will analyze Pivovarov’s approach to book design and create their own mock-ups.
