Lecture Cycle: Dissymmetrical Similarities

Date

Place

Garage Auditorium

DESCRIPTION

Garage is launching a new season of the lecture cycle by Irina Kulik—one of the Museum's most popular education cycles for the widest audience.

This autumn, the cycle will be devoted to artists in the broadest sense of the word. What do we know about the tragic disappearance of Dutch conceptualist artist Bas Jan Ader? What is the British electronic music pioneer and co-founder of Roxy Music Brian Eno also famous for? Why did Alighiero Boetti invent an identical twin for himself, and why were all his letters to famous artists and critics returned to him undelivered? Most importantly, what do these artists, who seem so different, have in common? Drawing connections between them, Irina Kulik’s lectures allow listeners to develop a better understanding of contemporary art practices and their contexts.
