Garage Studios and Artist Residencies announces an open call to take part in the residency program

DESCRIPTION

Garage Studios comprises 18 separate workspaces, a shared studio, project spaces, and a painting studio.

The program aims to create a platform for work, communication, and exchange of knowledge for artists from Moscow, Russia’s regions, and abroad. The program is focused on professional development of practices and the inclusion of residents in the broad artistic context. Artists from any country working in any technique are welcome to apply.

The focus of the 2024 residency is the support of social connections and the creation of a safe environment for artists’ personal and collective practices. The Studios’ educational program will include meetings with people active in the artistic process and practical sessions that will acquaint residents with existing models of institutional and artist-led professional communities. Participants will also be offered a course of lectures on three areas: nature/culture, the body/technology, domination/resistance.

One the Studios’ practices will comprise a collective diary by residents that will preserve the experience of each participant.

CONDITIONS
OF STAY

  • the Studios’ program is designed for three or six months;
  • Garage will cover travel expenses, accommodation, and food. Residents will also receive 15,000 rubles per month for materials;
  • participants must be over 18.

Results

We received 517 applications, of which 17 were selected.

The expert committee was made up of curators Anastasia Mityushina, Nikita Nechaev, Ilmira Bolotyan and Valentin Diaconov and Garage Studios curator Kristina Dryagina.
