DESCRIPTION

The first Russian inclusive debate club invites sighted and blind visitors to experience the exhibition Toward the Source and discuss it with the Garage archivists.

Toward the Source is one of the first Russian exhibition projects to invite artists to produce new works based on archival materials. After spending eight months exploring Garage Archive Collection, five practitioners featured in the show have developed their own projects based on—and involving—archival documents.

Each meeting of the debate club will be devoted to a different aspect of these artists’ work. Can an archive be the core of a museum collection? How do artists work with historical documents? How do they choose their sources?

Participants will have a unique opportunity to visit Garage Archive and discuss the exhibition project with its staff. They will also learn about audio description of art works, which helps the viewer notice details that may otherwise pass unnoticed.
