Garage Archive Collection is one of the world’s largest collections on the history of Soviet and Russian contemporary art and includes documents, photographs, books, audio recordings, and other artifacts related to the history of Russian art in the last 70 years.
A significant part of the archive is made up of video materials: works of video art, staged and documentary films, interviews, and documentation of art events.
This cycle of screenings of selected video documents will introduce viewers to the most interesting video materials in the archive. The program is divided into three parts. The first, Document, is a collection of documentary works that revisit or document landmark phenomena of Soviet and Russian underground culture.
The second part, Experiment, explores films by director Olga Stolpovskaya of the Parallel Cinema movement. The final part in the cycle, Artists' Films, comprises works for the screen by various artists.
