DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art invites visitors with intellectual disabilities to join free guided tours and workshops accompanying the exhibition The Coming World: Ecology as the New Politics 2030–2100. Spanning the Museum’s building, this show is the first project in Russia of such scale, entirely dedicated to the issues of ecology and environmental protection.

Featuring artworks by more than fifty international artists, the exhibition’s key goal is bringing critical ecological problems to the viewers’ attention. A number of works have been executed specially for the project at Garage.

Garage Inclusive department educators have prepared two types of adapted excursions around the show and invite visitors to join any of the tours on offer.

The first tour is based around different situations which have caused harm to the environment, having occurred due to human error. The guides will demonstrate artworks made using the most ordinary everyday materials that will help the group to understand the meaning of the idea of conscious consumption.

The second option is an excursion dedicated to the works about organisms living on planet Earth. The discussion will evolve around the question of how animals, plants, and people could co-exist in the future.

Each tour will be followed by a creative workshop where participants can make an artwork inspired by the works seen at the exhibition.

To prepare for the tour, please use our social story to become acquainted with key aspects of visiting an exhibition.
