International Competition
The international competition features 29 shorts from 24 countries, including Germany, India, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Russia, Rwanda, USA, Thailand, Ukraine, France, and Japan. The films are grouped in six sections, each focused on one aspect of the human search for our place on the planet.
Close-up: Nathaniel Dorsky
Within the annual Close-up section, MIEFF will screen for the first time in Russia the works of American avant-garde filmmaker Nathaniel Dorsky.
Nathaniel Dorsky: Cinema as an Alchemical Experience of the World. A talk by Evgeny Mayzel
American avant-garde film scholar Evgeny Mayzel will explain the significance of Nathaniel Dorsky’s work within the tradition of religious cinema and discuss the poetics of his early and mature films.
Ancestral (Re)Vision: Artist talk by Saodat Ismailova
Artist and filmmaker Saodat Ismailova will talk about the phenomenon of collective memory and the possibility of its visualization.
MIEFF Closing Night and the Premiere of Nova
The winners of the 6th Moscow International Experimental Film Festival (MIEFF) will be announced at the closing ceremony at Garage Screen summer cinema. The winner of the international competition will be awarded a prize of 1,000 euros. The winner of the national competition will receive 50,000 roubles or the opportunity to study on any online course offered by Bang Bang Education school of design. Kodak and Kosmosfilms will award their special prizes. The ceremony will be followed by the Russian premiere of Nova by Chinese artist Cao Fei.
