Kamila Ženatá: Learn to Stand on One Leg

This catalogue was published on the occasion of the exhibition. The installation combining painting and video art drew themes from the classical Chinese text The Book of Changes, specifically the eight symbols elaborated in this book — heaven, thunder, water, mountain, fire, wind, earth, lake. A performance by the Chinese master Qin Ming Tang was part of the accompanying programme of the exhibition, during the whole exhibition the surface of the Vltava River was transmitted to the gallery floor by a camera, as a symbol of “waves” of movement, flow and time. The concept of the exhibition dealt with the interaction of three processes — three levels of transformation mirrored in three worlds: the sky, the earth and the human mind.
