Stem of the Black Grass

This catalog was published on the occasion of the exhibition “Stem of the Black Grass” of Italian artist Maria Assunta Karini curated by Ilmira Bolotyan that has been held on 28.04.2017 till 26.04.2017 in the Center for Creative Industries Fabrika, Moscow. “The project ‘Stem of the Black Grass’ has began approximately two years ago, when I came across a story of a Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksievic, of her books and in particular ‘A Prayer for Chernobyl’. The whole book, those stories, those people, those words, her writing, have broken through, and I felt to be a part of that pain. Each person who narrates their own story in this book is a witness to a journey beyond imagination, and unleashes a force that neither the survival nor the yield, not even death can undermine.
