A series of screenings of Yakut cinema to mark the publication of Vladimir Kocharyan’s book.
In April, Garage Screen will show five films related to the phenomenon of Yakut auteur cinema. The striking cinematographic school that appeared in the Sakha Republic changed the landscape of Russian cinema, emphasizing local heritage and the trajectories of development of contemporary Yakut culture. It is important for the self-representation of Yakut authors that most of films are shot in the national language using local studios and film crews.
