Daria Kotova appointed director of Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announces the appointment of Daria Kotova as director with effect from April 17, 2025. She will replace Anton Belov, who has led the Museum since 2010.
During Anton Belov’s tenure Garage organized a series of major exhibitions and education programs and built a reputation as one of the most dynamic institutions in Russia. In that time Garage has also moved to a new building in Gorky Park, launched publishing and inclusive programs, and established a unique archive on the history of Russian contemporary art.
Daria Kotova has worked at Garage since 2010. Since 2014, she has been Head of Development, Marketing, and Advertising. She was responsible for restructuring the Museum’s loyalty program, establishing the patronship program, and organizing a number of large-scale marketing campaigns and partnership programs.
She commented: «I would like to thank the Museum’s founders for their trust in me. Heading the team that Anton led for so long is a great honor and a great responsibility. During this new stage in the history of Garage I am sure that my colleagues and I will continue to build Garage as a living, dynamic museum.»
Dasha Kotova (b. 1989, Moscow) graduated from the Journalism Faculty at Moscow State University in 2010. She has worked at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art for over 15 years, beginning as an assistant in the PR Department. Since 2014, she has been Head of Development, Marketing, and Advertising and since 2021 is also Director of Garage Endowment Fund. She was part of the team that opened the Museum’s permanent building in Gorky Park in 2015 and was also involved in a number of large-scale projects, including the 1st and 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art (2017, 2020), Takashi Murakami’s exhibition Under the Radiation Falls (2017), and the Garage Endowment Fund gala dinner (2021).
