Garage is launching a collection of Russian art

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announces a new area of activity, collecting contemporary Russian art.
Guided by its extensive research experience, Garage will focus on works created by Russian artists between the 1980s and the 2020s.
This developing collection is made up of purchases and gifts and will be presented in the main building of the Museum in open storage format. Over time, the exhibition will change and expand, so that viewers can witness the creation of a new museum collection.
The first phase of the display, the project Open Storage: A Prologue, will be presented in fall 2024 and comprise a large corpus of archival material and a selection of newly acquired works. Artists include Agency of Singular Investigations, Nikita Alexeev, Misha Le Jen, Kirill Glushchenko, Mikhail Maksimov, Andrei Monastyrsky, and others. A catalogue of the collection with information about the works and the artists will be available online.
The exhibition of the collection will be accompanied by a wide-ranging education program, including mediation sessions, lecture cycles on collecting, classes for children, and much more.
