Garage announces an open call for art mediators for the project Art Experiment.

Date

21 OCT 2019

Just as any other participatory art initiatives, Garage’s annual interactive project Art Experiment involves two main protagonists—the visitor and the mediator. For the jubilee 10th edition of Art Experiment in January 2020, the Museum is recruiting a team of art mediators who will be selected via application forms and individual interviews.

A medium between the viewer and the museum, permanently open for a dialogue, the mediator not only shares their knowledge and impressions of art but also eagerly listens to the visitor. The mediator’s key task is to make sure the dialogue happens.

Launched in 2010, Art Experiment is a signature project representing Garage’s public program. Varying from year to year, each edition’s key figures remain the visitors who are invited by the Museum to discover the kids and/or artists inside themselves.

The jubilee 10th iteration of Art Experiment will be dedicated to the poetic, magical, and mnemonic qualities of scents. Alongside works by contemporary practitioners experimenting with olfactory art, the show will feature workshop zones aimed at a wider audience who will also have the opportunity to become artists for a few hours.

Art Experiment. You’re on Air will run from January 2 –12, 2020, with the mediators’ preparation program scheduled for November and December 2019. Along with lectures and seminars due to be held on weekday evenings and at weekends, the preparation process implies individual research and collective discussions. Successful candidates will meet with the artists contributing to the project, learn more about contemporary artworks exploring olfaction (the art of smelling), and explore the Museum behind-the-scenes.
