Garage and BMW announce the winners of Art and Technology 2017/18 grant program

On April 10, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announced the winners of Garage Art and Technology grant in 2017/2018.

The results announcement took place during a discussion between Anton Belov and Thomas Girst about the opportunities and support that young artists can find in today’s world.

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art founded the first grant program for emerging artists in 2012. This program is still the only one of its kind in the country. In 2016, Garage expanded its grant program to include an Art and Technology section, which supports emerging artists and artist groups working with information and engineering technologies, and in the field of science art. As well as a monthly fellowship of 30,000 rubles, winning artist Sergey Kasich has the opportunity to visit the BMW Museum located at BMW Munich headquarters. He will have a year to implement the project with a maximum budget of 750,000 rubles.

During the application period for all the programs Garage received 420 applications and named just nine winners.

Expert committee Art and Technology 2017/2018 featured:

  • Anton Belov, Director at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art;
  • Тhomas Girst, Head of Cultural Engagement, BMW Group;
  • Katya Inozemtseva, Garage Senior Curator;
  • Оlga Shishko, Head of the Department of Film and Media Art at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
