Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announces the winners of Garage grant program in support of emerging Russian artists

On October 3, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art announced the winners of Garage grant programs for emerging artists in 2016/2017.
The announcement of the results took place during the round table discussion, Museum Experiments or Experimenting in a Museum. How Science Art Has Changed Cultural Institutions.
Garage founded the first grant program for emerging artists in 2012. This program is still the only one of its kind in the country. As part of its collaboration with SDV Arts & Science Foundation, in 2016 Garage expanded its grant program to include an Art and Technology section, which supports emerging artists and artist groups working with information and engineering technologies and in the field of science art.
During the application period for both programs Garage received 482 applications and named just ten winners.
The expert committee for the program in support of emerging Russian artists picked the following artists:
- Antonina Baever
- Artem Filatov
- Olga Kroytor
- Taus Makhacheva
- Ivan Novikov
- Sasha Pirogova
- Mikhail Zaikanov
The winners will receive a monthly fellowship of 30,000 rubles.
The winners of Art and Technology section are:
- Natalya Egorova
- Sergey Kasich
- Ippolit Markelov and 18 Apples crew
Apart from a monthly fellowship of 30,000 rubles, grant recipients will also be awarded a two-week residency at the SDVentures office in Riga.
