Grant for researchers writing on contemporary art in russian Garage.txt

DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to announce a new call for applications for GARAGE.txt, a program supporting researchers writing on contemporary art and culture, launched last year.

GARAGE.txt is Russia’s first long-term museum initiative supporting academic research in art and culture. The program offers funding for new projects by Russian and international researchers writing in the Russian language, as well as opportunities to publish completed manuscripts. Garage will accept applications with original studies in the history and theory of art in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, aesthetics, new media theory, the sociology of culture, critical theory, and the history of Russian contemporary art. The text should not exceed 320,000 characters.

REQUIREMENTS

Garage will accept applications from authors of over the age of twenty-five and of all nationalities, who write in the Russian language.

AWARDED GARAGE GRANTS

 

In 2017 Garage received over seventy applications from theorists from across Russia and the CIS, with studies on a wide range of topics relating to contemporary art, regional or world culture, urbanism, street art, mass culture, and philosophy.

Garage’s grant commission have studied all applications and selected the winners who will receive support in 2018: these are curator Alisa Savitskaya and artist Atyom Filatov from Nizhny Novgorod with their project A Brief History of Street Art in Nizhny Novgorod and art historian Irina Gorlova with her collection of essays Vladimir Salnikov.
