Workshop for children aged 7 to 12: A Map of Important Things

Date

Schedule

13:00–14:30

DESCRIPTION

Why do we need museums? Initially, they appeared in order to preserve and study collections. Ancient artifacts and exotic objects are carefully stored for years to tell their stories to visitors. But along with something ancient you can also preserve other things, because someday the events of today will also go down in history.

Participants will learn what methods contemporary artists use to preserve events. For example, the MishMash duo conserve household items in capsules, while artist Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov keeps a record of objects that may soon be on the verge of extinction, but are currently familiar to everyone. During the practical session, the group will design a map of everyday life that they think is important to preserve and then transfer it to a huge canvas using prints.
