The paradigmatic and promising residential area of Severnoe Chertanovo, the construction of which began in the 1970s, is a vivid example of a comfortable infrastructure that was intended to be a demonstration model for how Soviet citizens would live under communism, the advent of which was just around the corner.
The architectural solution of Severnoe Chertanovo implied that its residents did not need to leave the neighborhood, with everything located within walking distance: a school and a kindergarten, cultural and sports centers, a swimming pool, a library, various shops on the ground floors of buildings, and much more.
