The Museum is Your Friend is a special training course developed by the Inclusive Program team at Garage specially for visitors with learning and developmental disabilities.
The course introduces visitors to the museum beyond the exhibition space. Participants will learn how museums are organized and how they work, and meet Garage staff of all professions—from curators and invigilators to cloakroom assistants and archivists.
Each class includes elements of play and conversations with staff, as well as individual and group creative assignments.
Adapted notes for each session will be available, where each participant can also add his or her own notes and drawings.
The goal of the training course is to provide people with developmental disabilities with knowledge and skills they might require to look for a job, and to introduce them to the world of professional employment, using the example of the museum.
