This puppet-show masterclass is envisaged as a form of art therapy. Participants will contrive their own characters, write a script, prepare a set, and stage a production. This will allow them to experience both deeply pleasing and disturbing fictional situations in order to find non-obvious opportunities to act out their difficulties, to try out different roles in a familiar environment, to invent heroes, and deal with villains. Participants will be able to control actions and events in ways that would be impossible for them in ordinary life.

Professional Art Therapist Anna Shestakova holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Art Therapy from Long Island University, New York. She is also a member of the American Art Therapy Association. She has worked with the ‘Perekryostok’ (Crossroads) Center of Assistance and Adaptation of Teenagers, ART magazine, and the Department of Education at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York. She has also worked in a freelance capacity as a clinical Art Therapist for charitable organizations worldwide.
