A gentle, discursive drama by Nataliya Konchalovskaya about whether one can be in love forever.
Nikita (Denis Prytkov) and Ksyusha (Dasha Kotreleva) are 25 years old and have already been together for three years. They share the chores, morning breakfast rituals, night-time discussions on the couch about nothing and everything, and arguments are something from outside their shared universe. But existential questions invade their idyll from time to time. Will our future always be like today? Will we be together our whole lives? Can we remain friends if we split up?
In her second feature Nataliya Konchalovskaya does not provide answers to these questions. And in any case, how can one do that with confidence? The director carefully leads the viewer through two young lives, through the romantic everyday, drawing in a Bergman-like fashion something bigger and timeless that will remain in the future, even when the «after» happens. The film’s finale gives one answer, to the couple and the viewer, but there is no bitter aftertaste. Love might only live three years, but this cycle is created in order to repeat itself.
After the screening there will be Q&A with the director Nataliya Konchalovskaya and the film journalist Naya Guseva.
