Death of Louis XIV within the walls of an art gallery in Lisbon. Grotesque performance film by Albert Serra about corporeity, death, and power.
Spanish director Albert Serra once again turns to the figure of Louis XIV. In his work of 2016 Death of Louis XIV he meticulously explored the details of the last days of the life of the French king, while in his new film instead of a luxurious palace, the viewer discovers the monarch in complete isolation between the white walls of the gallery space under the light of the red neon lamps. Herewith, an unprofessional artist Luis Serra plays the monarch.
