Screening: Dior and I

DESCRIPTION

In 2012, Raf Simons became creative director of the fashion house Dior. He had just eight weeks to create his first haute couture collection, which usually takes at least eight months to produce.

Simons had previously worked as creative director at Jil Sander, which is famous for its minimalism, so his first experience in haute couture, documented by director Frédéric Tcheng, looks to be a challenging and exiting adventure.

The plot of this film may seem like it would only be of interest to those in the fashion industry, but director Frédéric Tcheng tells an exciting story of life behind the scenes of the fashion industry, giving it a human dimension which cannot be found in the pages of glossy magazines. Dior and I—which premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival—is Tcheng’s second directorial work after, the story of the legendary editor of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue.
