DESCRIPTION

Some of the leading figures of contemporary design, art, and fashion reflect on the importance of aesthetics in human life, and the seamless connection between aesthetic and natural forms.

Aestetik is the first part of a documentary trilogy exploring the influence of environment on society. Featured in the film, are those who shape our beauty standards today: creative directors of the design bureaus BVD and Note Design (Stockholm), NoMess and Bang & Olufsen (Copenhagen), avant-garde Danish fashion designer Henrik Vibskov, photographer Ari Magg, sculptor Steinun Torarinsdottir, actor and set designer Aron Bergmann Magnusson from Iceland, and many others. The narrators share their thoughts about contemporary design and its functions (including the aesthetic ones), in present-day world.

Maxi Shilov is a graphic designer and art director at AdeptWorks—a studio with offices in St Petersburg and Copenhagen. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with the State Hermitage, The State Russian Museum, the Sergey Kuryokhin Center for Modern Art, The British Council, Nike, and Puma.

The screening will be introduced by Maxi Shilov and the film producer Mikhail Polezhaev, and will be followed by a discussion.
