Performing Certain Actions is a hybrid project that combines theory and practice in the study of performative practices in contemporary art.
Participants will study and discuss works by Roland Barthes, Claire Bishop, Anatoly Vasiliev, Roselee Goldberg, André Lepecki, Daria Plokhova, and others. Discussions will be accompanied by brief talks and presentations focusing on works by Russian and international artists. Each meeting will include a practical part, where the methods discussed can be re-lived as personal experiences. Two of the meetings will be organized with invited artists.
