From June 5 to 12, Garage Studios and Artist Residencies will host the Who Are You? featuring works by the participants of the Ilkhom art program for teenagers.
Ilkhom program participants are very different young people (and not just teens). For example, their native languages include Chuvash, Dari, Kyrgyz, and Italian, with their hobbies ranging from football to singing and photography. What unites them is a shared interest in art, people, and the world around us. Curiosity and openness, embodied in art, became the Ilkhom program’s unifying language, resulting in the participants’ common statement—the project Who Are You?.
Program participants have created portraits of each other in order to get to know the other person and tell us about them. The works are in a variety of media, including drawings, sculptures, collages, videos, texts, and social network profiles. All of them turned out to be reflections on the inner world of a person—their mood, feelings, values, aspirations, and memories.
