In this Cinderella story set in the world of pain, fame and showbiz, Violet dreams of becoming a pop star but has to content herself with occasional performances in a local pub. When the Teen Spirit talent show comes to audition in her hometown, it seems like she finally has a chance to make it.
Violet lives on the Isle of Wight. Her girlfriends laugh at her singer ambitions, and her Polish mother believes that she would do better in a local church choir. But when she decides to take part in a music talent show, Violet starts getting all sorts of offers—as interesting as they are suspicious.
The debut feature by Max Minghella (Anthony Minghella’s son) was produced by Fred Berger, whose other works include La-La-Land, and starts Elle Fanning—one of the most remarkable actresses of the new Hollywood generation. In Teen Spirit, which features a soundtrack of recent pop hits, Fanning sings songs by Annie Lennox, Robyn, and Orbital.
