No conversation about the French new wave of horror would be complete without a mention of Alexandre Aja. After High Tension (2003), The Hills Have Eyes (2006), and Mirrors (2008), Aja conquered Hollywood with Piranha 3D (2010). In his new film, he once again returns to water creatures.
Haley (Kaya Scodelario, best known for Skins) chooses the worst time to visit her dad (Barry Pepper). As a hurricane hits Florida, the local authorities start evacuating the population and have to admit that they can no longer help those in the epicentre. Haley rushes to her family home to discover her father wounded in the basement. As the water rises, the two are trapped and have to choose between drowning or being eaten by giant alligators.
