Theatre director, artistic director at Southbank Centre, and the founder of WOW (Women of the World) Festival Jude Kelly will speak of the changes in our understanding of gender equality and the ways in which identity issues shape cultural contexts.
Speaking from her experience as a theatre director and curator, Kelly will show how we can ensure that culture belongs to everyone—and to a minority—by introducing programs for different social groups. She will also speak of the importance of culture as a space of equal rights that sets no limitations for human imagination and can be free from habitual patterns and prejudice, which create alienation instead of communities.
The lecture is a part of the series “Theories and practices of cultural leadership” organized by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art together with the British Council.
