DESCRIPTION

As the self-isolation period continues, Garage’s Inclusive Programs department invites you to learn some elementary Russian Sign Language lexicon.

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is launching a short introductory course on Russian Sign Language for the general public. Over four lessons, Garage’s Inclusive Programs manager Lyuda Luchkova will explain some key things about communication with deaf and hard of hearing visitors and will help viewers to learn the basics of sign fingerspelling and to articulate a number of phrases using sign language.

Class duration: 60 minutes.

Group size: 15 people.

Participation is free with advance registration.

Conferences will be held in Russian.

  1. General information on deaf and hard of hearing people: sociocultural issues, etiquette, rules of communication, and sign language.
  2. Introduction to sign fingerspelling.

  1. Sign fingerspelling: repeating the learned material, learning how to sign fingerspell and articulate words using sign fingerspelling.
