Olga Mikhailovskaya’s Lecture on Barbarella

DESCRIPTION

Introducing a screening of Barbarella, fashion journalist, stylist, and fashion historian Olga Mikhailovskaya will talk about the looks of the beautiful space traveler and the way she influenced fashion and contemporary society.

Why is Jane Fonda so attractive in her outfits by the main visionary of the 1960s space-age chic Paco Rabanne, as she fearlessly exposes her earthly body to all sorts of adventures amidst the plastic landscapes of distant galaxies? Why is Barbarella not a hymn but an epitaph to the futurism of the decade? These are the questions we will discuss before the screening.
