Hanna Zubkova’s project for Garage Archive Commissions is based on the artist’s thoughts about the fundamental questions and meanings of existence entwined with human fate and global history, the nature of power, and the interconnection of past and present.
For Zubkova the image of the sun dog (parhelion) is a symbol of her endless journey in search of genuine interpretations of history, of the slippery nature of Truth, which may have multiple versions.
Mediation participants will be invited to interpret what they have seen based on their personal optics. They will helped by mediators, who will accompany them in their study of the project. There are no right or wrong answers.
Participants will discuss the concept of the «false sun, ” discover the artist’s photo documentation of her journey beyond the Arctic Circle, and explore the archive of Soviet philosopher Georgy Kursanov, which was the launch point for Hanna Zubkova’s project.
The mediation is built around active communication with the mediator and involves discussion of what participants have seen.
Mediations will take place on Thursdays (18:30–19:30, 20:00–21:00) and Saturdays (15:00–16:00, 16:30–17:30).
