Specially for the annual all-Russian Library Night, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art has prepared a unique events program, comprising stories on the life of books in culture and a journey to the very heart of the Museum.
Library Night is being held in Moscow for the sixth time, with all of the events this year themed around its main subject A New Reading.
The Library Night program will start with a Make Your Own Book workshop for kids and adults alike. It is organized with the support of Nekrasov Central Universal Science Library. The workshop leaders will introduce a book as a product of both intellectual work and handicraft. The workshop will be followed by a screening of experimental Soviet films, demonstrating the ways text contributes to the creation of the moving image. Meanwhile at the Garage Archive—the largest collection of materials on the history of contemporary Russian art in the world, usually open only to specialists in the field—a number of guided tours will be given, revealing to the public the rare and curious objects that previously belonged to renowned artists and art collectors of our time including Leonid Talochkin, Kirill Kto, Viktor Pivovarov, Igor Makarevich, and many more
