DESCRIPTION

Garage invites audiences to join a collective morning meditation session in Paweł Althamer’s installation Silence.

The aim of meditation is to regain the sense of one’s body and achieve a feeling of calm and security. Sessions will be guided by qualified professionals.

Participants will also be able to meditate individually using the audio recorded by artist Taus Makhacheva for this project.

Sessions take place on Mondays and Thursdays from June 20 to August 31, 2022. Venue — the spatial installation Silence (to the left of the Museum entrance from Garage Square).

HOW TO TAKE PART

Free admission with advance registration. In case of bad weather, meditation will take place inside the Museum.

Schedule

Collective meditation practices from Anna Filatova

This practice is based around working with participant requests through bodily sensations and also focuses on the development of sensitivity and intuition. Sessions will explore dealing with attitudes, traumatic events, fears, and emotions that are inevitably realized in the body, affecting our quality of life.

The session may include pair work. This format allows participants to explore their own reactions and change them if desired.

The second part of the session explores the theory and practice of meditation. Anna will talk about the roots of the meditative practices that are employed in the first part of the session.
